OASAS issues RFP for Evaluation of NYS Grant Project
OASAS issues RFP for evaluation of the New York State Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant Project: Prevention First-NY! The evaluation cycle runs from March 1, 2010 to June 30, 2014. Prevention First-NY! aims to build a sustainable prevention infrastructure by capitalizing on New York’s evidence-based, risk and protective factor-focused prevention framework, incorporating all five stages of the Federal Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to reduce substance abuse and increase capacity across the State. The deadline for proposals is February 16, 2010. Bidder's Conference Questions and Answers are now available.

RFI Issued for Participation in Project CHOICES
OASAS is seeking treatment providers interested in participating in "Project CHOICES", our multi-year FASD prevention initiative. This evidence-based project utilizes motivational-interviewing with women of child-bearing age enrolled in treatment to prevent alcohol-exposed pregnancies.

2009 Recovery Community Organizing Initiative RFP
The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) announces its intention to provide State Aid funding over a multi-year period to a single eligible organization selected to provide statewide Recovery Community Organizing Services. Expected services include building and mobilizing strong grass-roots recovery organizations across New York State; educating professionals, policy makers and the general public about recovery related matters; promoting a better understanding of recovery; and enhancing the variety, availability, and quality of prevention, treatment and recovery supports for the people of New York. IOCC 2009 Report of Activities
Commissioner Karen M. Carpenter-Palumbo, Chair of the Inter-Office Coordinating Council (IOCC), announced the release of the IOCC 2009 Report of Activities. This Report highlights the shared commitment of the three state mental hygiene agencies - OMH, OMRDD and OASAS - to putting people first. It describes major collaborative iniatiatives to address the needs of people with multiple disabilities undertaken during 2009 by IOCC member agencies and their state and local partners. The Annual Report also demonstrates the importance of work underway to integrate and align agency structure and functions to improve outcomes for individuals with multiple disabilities and their families.

2010-11 Executive Budget Highlights
Governor David A. Paterson has proposed a 2010-11 Executive Budget for New York State that makes significant spending reductions in order to eliminate a $7.4 billion deficit and institutes key reforms to put New York on the road to economic and fiscal recovery.
