National Problem Gambling Awareness Week

OASAS celebrated National Problem Gambling Awareness week March 7-13, 2010. The goal of this campaign is to educate the general public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and raise awareness about the help that is available both locally and nationally.

OASAS updated a multi-media campaign, which is listed in the featured items box at the upper right, with television and Internet throughout the month.

Roughly one million New Yorkers are dealing with problem gambling. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call the 1-877-8-HOPENY for help or information on Problem Gambling. Trained staff are available 24-hours a day, 365 days a year.

OASAS is dedicated to raising awareness about adolescent and adult problem gambling and its consequences. It is our goal to educate the public and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and inform New Yorkers about help that is available.
