- For those prevention professionals and related professionals who are interested in a resource for prevention courses, CASAT has been working on a new project to create home study courses specific to prevention. Courses are now available in a variety of media formats.
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP)
- CSAP's Northeast CAPT offers a menu of computer-based, interactive online courses to bring the best of prevention knowledge and skills to State and community level practitioners. These facilitated online courses, lasting between one and three weeks, allow practitioners to explore current research, obtain practical tools, participate in structured learning activities and share their knowledge, experience and perspectives with one another.

Prevention Pathways Online Prevention Courses
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) is the sole federal organization with responsibility for improving accessibility and quality of substance abuse prevention services. CSAP provides national leadership in the development of policies, programs and services to prevent the onset of illegal drug use, underage alcohol and tobacco use, and to reduce the negative consequences of using substances.
CSAP Prevention Pathways is a gateway to information regarding prevention programs, program implementation, evaluation, technical assistance, online courses and a wealth of other prevention resources, is offering online prevention courses that are free to the public. Some courses are meant for professionals and other courses are designed to provide helpful information to members of the general public interested in prevention topics.
Please note that in order to receive a Certificate of Completion for contact hours (equivalent to clock hours) you do not need to be a member of one of the accrediting associations offering continuing education credits. When registering, participants who are not members of one of the accrediting associations should do the following: under Membership Information, Organization, click on "Other" from the drop-down menu of accrediting associations, leave the membership number field blank and complete the registration process. Once you have completed the course, you must select the option to take the quiz for "credit" in order to print a certificate of completion.
